CHANG SUJI
Lieu started with a building on the other side of the School of Architecture of Nantes.
Although there are many plausible reasons for each country’s own architectural styles, the building’s structure and shape felt strange to me because I couldn’t see them in Korea. I took those unfamiliar aspects of buildings and placed them in my video work, weaving the different times and spaces together that I felt as a stranger.
The still moment and ambiguous sense of time created in the video tells a story. Lieu blurs the boundary of inside and outside and illustrates a landscape of Nantes, blending reality and the imagination.

<Lieu>는 낭트 건축학교를 마주하고 있는 한 건축물로부터 시작되었다.
각 나라의 건축 양식은 여러 가지 이유가 있겠지만, 한국에서 볼 수 없었던 구조와 형태는 내게 이미지적으로 생소했다.
이질적인 건축물의 단면을 영상으로 가져와 공간 안에 배치시키며, 이방인으로서 낭트에서 느껴지는 서로 다른 시공간을 한데 묶고, 정지된 시간과 모호하고 다중적인 시간성이 혼재된 낭트의 공간을 만들어 이미지텔링을 한다.
<Lieu>는 면과 면 사이를 서로 이으며 안과 밖을 더 모호하게 만들고, 현실과 가상이 혼합된 낭트의 풍경을 그린다.
