Foundation & Studio 1~8 : Foundation & Studio aims to find out a wide variety of creative methods in artistic expression by learning, conducting research and production experience. The entire courses provide practical training and seminars that reflect the latest arts scene with diversity and evolving changes, moving on from solving problems in individual projects to exploring different prepositions and conditions of artwork.

Understand the flow of art since the 1990s and analyze major issues. By providing students with a broad understanding of contemporary artists, it aims to dispel vague prejudices and misunderstandings about contemporary art and equip them with a balanced perspective.

Understand the historical background and characteristics of 20th century art and look into how it affects art today.

1. Analyze the fundamental elements of creation and creativity expressed in the process of development and conduct specific experiments on how to develop the theme and direction of individual work. The work of four major representative artists is analyzed from four core perspectives (choice and judgment, frame and scope, material and method, result and finishing) and the experience to the individual artwork.

2. Experience and research the gradual completion of work from selecting themes, concepts to the work methods and delivering the final results. It starts from a blank mindset of an artist, build a database of ideas from the beginning, organize the database into a dataset and into concepts, select the expression method and materials according to the inclination of the concept and find results that are faithful to the concept during the process. Based on these classes, students experience the fundamental process of all art creation.

Theory lectures to study the overall flow and characteristics of traditional Korean painting, sculpture and crafts. It focuses on understanding the tradition and spiritual background of Korean aesthetic consciousness through intensive research on major art historical cases. In addition, students will understand the background and characteristics of Korean contemporary art by studying the flow of various experimental art, popular art and postmodernism that have occurred in Korea since the 1960s.

Practical courses in which students in the 3rd and 4th year major courses take full-scale artist classes directly from their adviser. In the 3rd and 4th year, major students take direct and full-scale artist classes from their academic advisers. Full-time professors of the Department of Fine Arts, who runs major studios, conduct classes to their respective students.

Graduation examination is a subject that evaluates each student's individual work and potential to develop as an artist at the end of undergraduate studies. Students will make a presentation on their work and work concept to an evaluation committee consists of academic advisers, school professors and outsiders and will be evaluated whether or not to participate in the graduation exhibition and as graduates. The evaluation method is the unanimous S/U of the evaluation committee members.

Practice of Physical Activity : This course is designed to awaken a broader awareness of the ‘body’ along with artistic exploration through various major-related subjects in the Department of Fine Arts. The goal is to renew students' self-awareness and awareness of their bodies through various physical activity experiences that encompass the mind, spirit and body so that abundant self-expression is possible.

These courses provide a systematic view of the humanities and social sciences in general for 4 semesters for students in Department of Fine Arts. The importance of the humanistic foundation is increasing in contemporary art, where artists can no longer settle for the role of craftsmen. These courses provide critical perspectives on the concept and role of art by expanding students' perspectives to other arts and related academic fields such as literature, philosophy, sociology, philosophy of science and cultural criticism.

This is a studio opened when a foreign professor is invited and the guest professor leads the class with his / her own unique project for students of all grades. Students experience different cultural experiences and education that cannot be accessed from existing Korean professors, practice projects prepared by guest professors for one semester and produce results. It is an opportunity for students to take classes with great professors from abroad and it is a process that helps students broaden their experience and creativity as a process that allows them to experience other cultures and education more systematically.

Learn the basic techniques of traditional painting, including Sagunja (Four Gracious Plants) and develop an appreciation for traditional painting through analysis of painting theory and representative works.

The process of learning the basic techniques of Western painting and acquiring a wide range of conversational language step by step. Starting with the ability to express the human body and objects figuratively and solving universal problems. Students are taught to build a unique world of painting based on these abilities.

Studying the history of printmaking and the works of major artists, learning various techniques and production processes of printmaking through theory and practice, seeking to establish an individual fine art language as a printmaker.

Introduces various methods of woodcraft in contemporary sculpture and practices them systematically. Lectures are focused on practice and various audiovisual materials are used to recognize the new possibilities of woodworking.

Appreciate the works of recent international artists who work with photography as an expression medium, compare and analyze the expression techniques and basic concepts of production of work. Black and white photography, straight photography, polaroid transfer, non-silver process, collage technique and new media are selectively adopted and experienced as a means of expression.

In the paradigm of modern ceramics, learn the basic methods of ceramic art and focus on cultivating practical skills in ceramic molding through experiencing various molding methods.

Blowing is a technique in which hot glass melted in a melting furnace is rolled into a pipe and directly formed by blowing it and it is one of the main techniques for glass molding production. Through the basic glass blowing class, students learn the fundamental properties of glass and basic techniques required for glass formation.

Casting is a one of the major techniques in which glass is put into a manufactured refractory mold and melted in a kiln to form it. It is one of the main techniques for molding. Through the basic glass casting class, students learn the basic techniques required for glass molding.

Classes that broadly study the methodology and expression of painting for contemporary consideration of the role and value of painting. It is also accompanied by discussions of a critical nature, in which individual works are produced and presented based on questions that are the basis of painting work, such as identity or thematic consciousness.

Understand the characteristics of media through in-depth practice of lithograph and etching techniques and develop creative expression methods through independent and experimental creative process.

Drawing in contemporary art has already established itself as a unique and important place for painting and many artists have developed this genre with various techniques and experimental spirit. Drawing has played a very important role in revealing the way of expression or one's individuality in the process from the beginning of drawing, which is the most basic of painting, to the finish. Accordingly, this subject aims to help students find their own unique way of expression through free imagination and various experiments.

Along with the expansion of the concept of art, the concept of sculpture also reflects the reality that encompasses various media and forms, breaking away from traditional sculptural concepts and methodologies such as the use of space and immaterial materials. Study the characteristics of Sculpture & Installation work through various approaches.

All light produced in modern times, including natural light sources, general artificial light sources, neon lights and lasers, is expressed using these tools in the same context as expressing them with paint on a canvas. It is a process of understanding technical methods and expressions. In the end, all visual mediums for expression, including paint, are generated as a basic unit of light, which is the basic process of creative work based on the nature of this phenomenon.

Along with the invention of the laser, it is the process of understanding the recently invented 3D images and the images that form in the context of space. The composition and characteristics of the laser, the three-dimensional reproduction by the optical composition and the environment of the image projected on the spatiality are applied from a creative point of view. It includes research on artists working based on modern lasers and holography.

After learning the basics mainly on video shooting in the first year, learn video editing through digital image transformation and video editing. Classes to study the works and methods of video artists introduced after the 2000s and to apply those methods to complete individual videos. Moving image/video art context of concrete contemporary art, multimedia reference, etc. are introduced. The goal is to help students understand contemporary performance genres and create works based on them by combining theory classes and performance creation practices. Theory class consisting of lectures, readings and presentations examines the main artists and works of performance since the 1960s to the present, explores the themes and methodologies mainly dealt with through performances such as body, performativity, time, etc. Students create their own performance work through score writing and movement workshops. These lectures read performances from the perspective of an open medium and genre. It deals with performance as a multimedia form, examining not only visual arts but also attempts in literature, theater, music and dance.

The primary goal of these courses is to help students find what suits them among various practice methods and media that express their imagination or ideas through visual arts. First of all, it broadens horizons through research on the works of existing artists and in the next step, it helps students learn how to richly and delicately refine and amplify their own media and expression language through direct and indirect experiences.

First of all, examine issues floating around as important issues in our art and related works. This is done with a critical analysis of the exhibitions as well as a review of public controversies. It is conducted in the form of lectures, preliminary research and research by students (individuals or groups) and whole class discussions. In addition, view controversial exhibitions together and conduct research together based on exhibition reviews.

Portfolio goes beyond the sum of various individual works and has the function of listing works based on the characteristics of each work and rearranging their meaning to give a new relationship and order to the works. This course is intended to help students develop efficient presentation methods and technical portfolios required by the art scene and to approach problems surrounding presentations and portfolios through aesthetic judgments from a critical point of view, such as changes in work contents.

How works are exhibited in galleries and museums, what kind of preparation process is needed for exhibition, what types of exhibitions are planned, how exhibition installation is planned and how artists are involved in curating exhibitions. This is a class that studies all aspects of exhibitions.

기초스튜디오 1~8 (Foundation & Studio 1~8) : 기초스튜디오는 예술적 표현에 있어서 다양한 창의적 방법에 관하여 학습, 연구, 경험하는 것을 목적으로 창작의 실질적인 과정을 통해 학생 스스로 독창성에 열린 표현의 가능성을 찾아 나아가는 수업이다. 동시대 미술현장의 다양성과 변화를 반영한 전체 교과과정은 개별 과제들에 대한 조형적 문제 해결 방식에서 벗어나, 학생 개개인이 서로 다른 창작의 전제와 조건을 제시하고 이를 토대로 작품을 전개해 나아가는 다양한 실습과정과 세미나로 구성된다.

90년대 이후 미술의 흐름을 이해하고 주요 쟁점을 분석한다. 학생들에게 동시대 작가들에 대한 폭넓은 이해를 제공함으로써 현대미술에 대한 막연한 편견과 오해를 불식하고 균형 있는 시각을 갖추도록 한다.

20세기 미술의 시대적 배경과 작품의 특징을 파악하고, 오늘날 미술에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지 살펴본다.

1. 창작에 대한 근본적인 요소와 작업 진행 과정에서 표현되는 창의성을 분석하고, 본인 작업 주제와 방향을 어떻게 발전시켜 나갈 것이냐에 대한 구체적인 실험을 한다. 4명의 대표적인 작가들의 작업을 4가지 중심적인 관점으로(선택과 판단, 틀과 범위, 재료와 방법, 결과와 마감) 분석하고, 그 분석결과를 본인 작업에 적용하는 경험을 하게 한다.

 2.주제나 개념의 선택에서 작업 방법으로부터 결과에 이르기까지 단계적으로 어떻게 작업이 형성되는지를 경험하고 연구한다. 그러기 위해서는 작가의 마음이 백지화된 것으로 상상하고 처음부터 아이디어를 데이터베이스를 구축하듯이 시작하여 데이터베이스를 데이터세트로 정리, 개념이 되도록 하고, 개념의 성향에 따라 표현 방법과 재료를 선택하고, 진행과정을 통해 개념에 충실히 하는 결과를 찾게 한다. 이러한 수업을 토대로 모든 예술 창작의 근본적인 과정을 체험하게 한다.

한국의 전통회화와 조각, 공예의 전반적인 흐름과 특성을 공부하는 이론 강의로, 주요 미술사적 사례들에 대한 집중적인 연구를 통해 한국적 미의식의 전통과 정신적 배경을 이해하는데 비중을 둔다. 또한, 1960년대 이후 한국에서 일어난 다양한 실험미술, 민중미술, 포스트모더니즘 등의 흐름을 공부함으로써 한국현대미술의 배경과 특성을 이해하도록 한다.

3, 4학년 전공과정의 학생들이 지도교수로부터 직접적이고 본격적인 작가수업을 받게 되는 실기 수업과정으로 전공스튜디오를 운영하는 조형예술과 전임교수진이 각자 담당하는 학생들을 대상으로 해당 전공분야의 수업을 진행한다.

졸업심사는 학부 학업을 마감하는 시기에 학생의 개인작업과 앞으로 작가로서 발전해 나아갈 가능성을 평가하는 과목이다. 지도교수, 교내교수, 외부인사로 구성된 평가위원 앞에서 본인 작업과 작업 개념에 대한 발표를 하고 졸업전시 참여 여부와 졸업생으로서 적격평가를 받게 된다. 평가방법은 평가위원들의 만장일치 S/U로 한다.

조형예술과의 다양한 전공 관련 교과를 통한 예술적 탐구와 더불어 ‘몸’에 대한 보다 폭넓은 인식을 일깨우고자 기획된 교과이다. 본 교과는 마음과 정신, 몸을 아우르는 여러 신체활동 경험을 통하여 학생들의 몸에 대한 자각과 인식을 새롭게 함으로써 풍부한 자기표현이 가능하도록 하는데 그 목표가 있다.

조형예술을 전공하는 학생들을 대상으로 4학기 동안 인문학, 사회과학 일반에 관한 체계적인 조망을 제공하는 교과목이다. 미술가가 더는 수공업적 기능인의 역할에 안주할 수 없게 된 현대미술에 있어서 인문학적 토대의 중요성은 점점 더 커지고 있다. 이 과목은 학생들의 시야를 문학, 철학, 사회학, 과학철학, 문화비평 등 타 예술과 인접학문 분야로 확장함으로써 미술의 개념과 역할에 대한 비판적 시선을 제공한다.

외국인 교수를 초빙할 경우에 열리는 스튜디오로 초빙교수가 모든 학년의 학생들을 대상으로 그 만의 독특한 프로젝트를 가지고 이끌어가는 수업이다. 학생들은 기존 한국교수에게서 접할 수 없는 다른 문화적 경험과 교육을 접하며 초빙교수가 준비한 프로젝트를 한 학기 동안 실습하고 결과물을 낸다. 학생들에게 해외 훌륭한 교수들과 수업을 할 수 있는 기회이며 좀 더 체계적으로 다른 문화와 교육을 접할 수 있는 과정으로 경험과 창작의 폭을 넓히는 데 많은 도움이 되는 과정이다.

사군자를 비롯한 전통 회화의 기본 기법을 익히고, 그 화론(畵論)과 대표작품의 분석을 통해 전통회화에 대한 감식안(鑑識眼)을 얻는다.

서양회화의 기본기법을 배우고 인체와 사물의 구상적인 표현 능력에서 출발하여 단계적으로 폭넓은 회화 언어를 습득하는 과정, 보편적인 문제해결 능력을 토대로 개성적인 회화세계를 구축하도록 지도된다.

판화의 역사와 주요작가 작품을 공부하고, 판화의 각종 기법과 제작과정을 이론과 실기를 통해 학습하면서 판화가로서 독자적 조형언어의 구축을 모색한다.

현대조각에서 이루어지고 있는 목공예의 다양한 방식을 소개하고 체계적으로 실습한다. 실습을 위주로 강의가 진행되며 다양한 시청각 자료를 활용하여 목공작업의 새로운 가능성을 인식하도록 한다.

블로잉(Blowing)은 용해로에 녹아 있는 뜨거운 유리를 파이프에 말아서 불어 직접 성형하는 기법으로 유리조형 제작을 위한 주된 기법의 하나이다. 기초유리 블로잉 수업을 통하여 유리조형에 필요한 유리의 근원적 성질과 기초기법을 배운다.

캐스팅(Casting)은 제작한 내화몰드에 유리를 넣고 가마 안에서 녹여 성형하는 주조 기법으로 조형 제작을 위한 주된 기법의 하나이다. 기초유리 캐스팅 수업을 통하여 유리조형에 필요한 기초기법을 배운다.

회화의 역할과 가치에 대한 동시대적 고찰을 위해 회화의 방법론과 표현형식에 대해서 폭넓게 연구하는 수업이다. 정체성이나 주제 의식 등 회화작업의 근간이 되는 질문들을 토대로 개별 작업을 제작, 발표하는 비평적 성격의 토론도 수반된다.

석판화와 동판화의 기법 실습을 통해 심도 있게 다루어 매체의 특성을 이해하고, 독자적이고 실험적인 창작과정을 통해 창의적인 표현방법을 개발한다.

현대미술에서의 드로잉은 이미 독특하고 중요한 회화의 장으로 자리 잡은 지 오래고 많은 작가들이 다양한 기법과 실험정신으로 이 장르를 발전시켜 왔다. 드로잉은 회화의 가장 기본인 그리기의 시작에서부터 마감까지의 과정에서 표현방식이나 자기의 개성을 드러내는 데 매우 중요한 역할을 해오고 있다. 이에 본 교과는 학생들에게 자유로운 상상력과 다양한 실험을 통하여 자기만의 개성적인 표현방식을 찾는데 그 목표를 둔다.

미술개념의 확장과 더불어 조각의 개념도 다양한 매체나 형식을 아우르게 된 현실을 반영하여 공간이나 비물질적 재료의 사용 등 전통적인 조각 개념이나 방법론을 탈피함으로써 입체작업의 특성을 다양한 접근을 통해 연구해 본다.

자연광원, 일반적인 인공광원, 네온, 그리고 레이저를 포함한 현대에 생산되는 모든 빛을 마치 캔버스에 물감으로 표현하는 것과 같은 맥락으로 이러한 도구를 사용해서 표현하는 기술적인 방식과 표현방식을 이해하는 과정이다. 결국은 물감을 포함한 모든 시각적인 표현 매개체는 빛이라는 기본단위로 발생하게 되는데 이러한 현상의 본질을 바탕으로 창조적인 작업을 해 나가는 기초과정이다.

레이저의 발명과 더불어 최근 발명된 입체영상의 재현, 그리고 공간이라는 상황에서 형상화하는 영상을 이해하는 과정이다. 레이저의 구성과 특징, 광학적 구성에 의한 입체상의 재현, 그리고 공간성에 투영된 영상의 환경을 창조적 관점으로 적용하게 된다. 현대의 레이저 및 홀로그래피를 바탕으로 활동하는 작가 연구가 포함된다.

1학년에서 비디오 촬영을 중심으로 기초를 배운 후 비디오 편집과 디지털이미지의 변형을 통한 비디오 편집을 배운다. 작품의 개념에 따른 시간적 배열(수평적 배열)을 연구하는 것은 물론 레이어 즉 수직적 배열을 통해 공간과 시간의 정교하고 복합적인 합성을 배운다. 기술적으로는 이에 따른 소프트웨어를 익히고 개념적으로는 영상이미지를 작품 아이디어에 맞게 창조하는 것이다.

컴퓨터로 제어하는 기술 영역이 핵심인 뉴미디어 아트를 조형예술의 표현방법에 확장시킨다. 뉴미디어 작업을 위해 기초적인 프로그래밍 언어를 배운다. 프로그래밍 언어를 통하여 오브제나 영상, 사운드 등의 작품을 구현해 본다.

다양한 도예재료와 도자조형에 이용되는 도구, 다양한 기법의 응용으로 도자조형 능력을 개발한다.

유리조형의 기법인 캐스팅, 퓨징, 슬럼핑, 래미네이팅 등의 기본적인 테크닉을 연마하는 과정이다.

2000년대 이후에 소개된 영상 작가들의 작업과 방식을 연구하고, 그 방식을 적용해 각자 영상을 완성시켜 보는 수업이다. 학생마다 심층적 개별 프로젝트를 진행하게 되며, 광학기술(카메라, 렌즈, 촬영, 노출 등)에 관한 기초적 기술 워크샵을 제공하고, 필요에 따라 편집 소프트웨어 워크샵이 포함될 수 있다. 구체적 현대미술의 무빙이미지/비디오아트 컨텍스트, 다매체 레퍼런스 등을 소개한다. 능동적 피드백이 오가는 튜토리얼을 바탕으로 학생 개개인의 방법론을 개발하는 데 중점을 둔다.

이론 수업과 퍼포먼스 창작 실기를 병행하여 동시대 퍼포먼스 장르에 대한 이해를 돕고 이를 기반으로 작업을 만들어 보는 것을 목표로 한다. 강의와 강독, 발표 등으로 이루어진 이론 수업은 1960년대 이후 현재까지 퍼포먼스의 주요 작가와 작업들을 살피고 신체, 수행성, 시간 등 퍼포먼스를 통해 주로 다뤄지는 주제 및 방법론을 탐색하며, 스코어 작성, 움직임 워크숍 등을 통해 각자의 퍼포먼스 작업을 만들어 본다. 이 강의는 퍼포먼스를 열린 매체와 장르의 관점으로 읽는다. 시각예술에 뿐 아니라 문학, 연극, 음악, 무용에서의 시도들을 함께 살펴보며 다매체적 형식으로서의 퍼포먼스를 다룬다.

이 교과의 우선 목표는 자신의 상상력이나 착상을 시각예술로 표현하는 다양한 실천방식과 매체 중에서 자신에게 맞는 것을 스스로 찾아내도록 돕는 데 있다. 우선 기존 작가들의 작품연구를 통해 시야를 넓히도록 하고, 다음 단계에는 자신의 매체와 표현 언어를 풍부하고 섬세하게 다듬고 증폭시키는 방법을 직접, 간접 경험을 통해 익혀 나가도록 도와준다.

우선 지금 우리 미술에 비중 있는 논점으로 떠다니는 문제들, 또 그와 관련된 작업들을 검토한다. 이것은 전시들에 대한 비평적 분석과 아울러 세간의 논쟁들을 리뷰 하는 일과 함께 이루어진다. 강의, 학생(개인 혹은 그룹)의 사전조사와 연구, 전체 토론 형식으로 진행된다. 또한 논쟁적 전시를 함께 관람하고 전시 리뷰를 토대로 함께 연구해 나간다.

포트폴리오는 다양한 개별 작품들의 총합을 넘어 각각의 작업들의 특성을 토대로 작품을 목록화하고 그 의미를 재배치하여 작품들의 관계와 질서를 새로 부여하는 기능을 갖는다. 이 교과는 미술현장이 요구하는 효율적인 프레젠테이션 방법과 기술적인 포트폴리오 제작을 돕고 작업내용의 변화 등 작품에 관한 비평적 관점에서의 미학적 판단을 통해 프레젠테이션과 포트폴리오를 둘러싼 제 문제에 접근하기 위한 것이다.

갤러리나 박물관에서 작품 전시는 어떻게 이루어지는지, 전시준비를 위해 어떠한 준비과정이 필요한지, 어떠한 종류의 전시들이 기획되는지, 전시 설치는 어떻게 계획하는지, 작가로서는 어떻게 전시기획에 접근해야 하는지 등 전시를 위한 모든 면을 연구하는 수업이다.
