2019 Nantes Project

The 2019 K’Arts platform-Nantes presided over the research on a topic of the “Urban Expedition: The City and the Sea” from 29 June to 08 July (for eight nights and ten days) in Nantes, France, with the fifteen MFA Visual Arts students (Kang Dahyun, Kim Doyeon, Kim Bokyeong, Kim Taehee, Vak Dongkyun, Yang Yunhwa, Lee Dayeong, Yi Juneseok, Lee Chulho, Lee Hyunwoo, Lee Hyeyeong, Chang Suji, Jung Song, Cha Minsung, Choi Youeun)led by professors Woo Don-Son (Dean of the School of Visual Arts), Lee Kang-Min(Assistant Professor), and Choi Yunhee (Visiting Professor). The researchers observed and interpreted the identity, memories, and traces of Nantes as a port city as a spectator in the present time. The individual participants focused on collecting the semiotic properties, specificity, and images of Nantes to develop the topic in various ways. After returning to Korea, the project participants organized the research results with the exhibition, “Flaneur(s) de Nantes,” showcasing the new way of looking at the city through visual work. Through workshops, the participants inspected the urban regeneration process in Nantes and expanded the cultural and industrial values of various elements that composed the city. Since 2019, the K-Arts has assigned this project to a summer school module (2 credits).

2019 낭트 프로젝트

2019년도 프로젝트는 미술원 전문사 재학생 15명(강다현, 김도연, 김보경, 김태희, 박동균, 양윤화, 이다영, 이준석, 이철호, 이현우, 이혜영, 장수지, 정송, 차민성, 최유은)을 대상으로 우동선 원장, 이강민 조교수, 최윤희 초빙교수 지도 아래 ‘도시탐사 : 바다와 도시’를 주제로 8박 10일간(6월29일~7월8일) 프랑스 낭트에서 진행하였습니다. 낭트라는 도시가 가진 항구 도시로서의 정체성, 기억과 흔적들을 ‘현재’라는 시간 속에서 관찰자 시선으로 해석하고 도시가 지닌 기호적 속성과 특수성 및 이미지들을 참여자 각자 나름의 방식으로 수집하여 주제를 다양하게 발전시키는데 집중하였습니다. 시각적 작업을 통한 도시를 바라보는 새로운 시선을 귀국 후 국내에서 결과보고전인 <낭트의 산책자들> 전시로 그 성과를 정리하였습니다. 참여자들은 워크숍을 통해 도시 낭트의 도시재생과정을 탐색해보고 그 과정에서 도시를 둘러싼 다양한 요소들이 갖는 문화적, 산업적 가치를 확장해 나가는 기회를 가졌습니다. 2019년도부터 이 프로젝트는 여름 계절학기(2학점)로 편성되었습니다.
