Outline of Exhibition Concept
Wherever we go, we leave our traces there and the place also leaves its impression on us.
Although photography is related to memory, and I bring vestiges of a moment with long exposures, I do not aim to make a linear memory or bring the exact fact of what happened in a place. Through colors, shape distortions, and blurs, I invite the observer to compose a meaning to the image and understand unseen forces of a residual materiality.

어디를 가든 우리는 그 곳에 우리의 흔적을 남기고, 그 곳 역시 우리에게 인상을 남긴다. 비록 사진은 기억과 연관된 것이지만, 나는 긴 노출 촬영을 통해 순간의 흔적들을 사진으로 가져왔다. 이를 통해 선형적 기억을 형성하거나 어떤 장소에서 특정한 어떤 사실이 있었음을 기록하려 하는 것이 아니다. 색감, 형상의 뒤틀림, 모호함 등을 통해 나는 관객이 스스로 이미지의 의미를 구성하고, 잔존하는 물질성 안에 보이지 않는 것들의 힘을 이해하도록 유도하고자 한다.
About Artist
Brazilian, graduated in Visual Arts at Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas, and currently enrolled in master’s degree in photography at Korea National University of Arts, with AMA+ scholarship. During her undergraduate studies in Brazil, Lia also did a scientific initiation which she studied the expansion of the photography, in special
through the time inserted on it, and even built and use her own pinhole cameras to then proceed to the digital photography.
As learning new cultures add value to us, in parallel Lia also studied Korean Language and Culture at the King Sejong Institute, incorporating these studies on her artworks and also motivating her to apply for a scholarship in Korea.

브라질 인으로, 캄피나스 교황가톨릭대학에서 시각예술을 공부했으며, 현재는 한국예술종합학교에서 AMA+장학생으로 사진을 공부하며 석사과정을 밟고 있다. 브라질에서 학사과정을 공부하는 동안 그녀는 산학협동연구에 참여하여 확장적 범위에서 사진을 탐구하였는데, 그 중에는 사진에 시간을 삽입하거나 개인 소유의 핀홀 카메라를 사용하여 디지털 사진을 제작하는 시도 등이 있었다. 새로운 문화 및 가치 등을 배우는 동안 리아는 세종학당재단에서 한국어와 한국문화를 익히고 이를 그녀의 작업과 연계해보았는데, 그러한 경험이 동기가 되어 장학프로그램에 지원하여 한국에 오게 되었다.
